Beka

Ultrabright 18 LED Marine RV &
Off Grid Cockpit & Area Light

Following the success of our Doe LED cabin light and our Owl LED Anchor light, we were asked to produce an ultrabright white LED anchor light which would also light the cockpit of a boat at the same time.

The result of our work is the Beka LED Anchor/Cockpit light. Unlike the cheap rubbish produced for the automotive market with a 'marine' label attached, the Beka, like all of our marine LED lights, is designed from the ground up for a lifetime of use in the harsh marine environment.

Using a UPVC shell, our marine LED lights will withstand the direct tropical sunlight on your yacht for years. It is fully sealed to ensure a long life through even the worst of a typical Fijian 'carwash' rain squall. We even warrantee our light to a depth of 1 meter for 1 hour (it's actually better than that, but if your cockpit is more than a meter underwater for an hour, you likely have more worries than an anchor light)!

Electrically, the Beka anchor and cockpit light has an integral current regulator to ensure full output while maintaining a long life during the voltage ups and downs of the battery charging cycle. The regular Beka comes with a 250mm fully tinned wire pigtail if you have an existing circuit on your boat, or the Beka Kaukaua, which has a jacketed 5 meter fully tinned wire lead if you do not. We are now offering a 'semi-custom' version of the Beka Kaukau, just tell us how much more cable you'd like, and we will make it up for you (please allow an additional 5 days for this service).

As of 20 February 2007, we have finally found a source for a quality, stainless steel, eyescrew (screw eye) to suspend the light with, and it is included in our prices. As always, our prices are also inclusive of Fast Post Shipping ('Priority Air Mail' to Americans) world-wide, with a flat US$5.00 per order to cover processing the order.

As with all of our products, every Beka Marine and Off Grid Anchor and Cockpit LED light undergoes rigorous testing including a burn in period under a varying voltage levels. This final test and our conservative, but innovative, design makes us feel confident to offer a limited LIFETIME WARRANTEE (our lifetime, not the product's sales life!).

By request of the crusing fleet in Savusavu, we have added the Beka Kaukau'a. Electrically, this is the same as the Beka, but it has a 5 meter jacketed cable of a red/black pair of 22AWG wire. The jacket and the thicker wire makes it suitable for hanging without using the eye screw which is included with the Beka.

As an addition service, we can make the Beka Kaukaua with any additional length of cable you'd like: Up to 300 meters! Just click on the adjacent button for additional cable lengths at US$3.00/meter. As we have to pull units from 'normal' production to do this, please allow an additional extra week for delivery.

    * The word 'Beka' is Fijian for fruit bat, a nocturnal fixture of the Islands.  They rely strictly on their superb night vision as they, along with all other herbiferous bats, lack echo location. They are considered a delicacy by many. We find it interesting that in American Samoa, it is usually cooked on a grill, but in Fiji, it is generally boiled. We can't help but wonder if the difference in bat recipes reflects the difference in taste of their colonial administrators!
