Gerhard and Robn Diekow aboard S/V Heidi have been cruising since the 1970's. Last season (2005) and this season (2006) cruising in Fiji, they have purchased well over a dozen lights from Bebi. They made this photo-essay using our Rinorino 12 LED light, however, our Doe 9 LED light and Kacau 12 LED, 24vdc light would work the same. There has been no editing, but we did reformat it into html. I will now turn it over to them.

"These LED's are keeping our demand low enough for our 9 year old Optima batteries to keep up with our needs!"- Gerhard Diekow

Click to Enlarge Tubes cut to length desired, nozzle stub removed (optional), plunger removed (takes considerable pressure), plunger carefully cut in two from inside at bottom. Save both parts. 7x1 10mm (AWG 2 for the Americans, ed.) wire copper wire stripped and splayed.
Drilling ventilation holes, perhaps not necessary, but can't hurt. Click to Enlarge
Click to Enlarge Assembly: I glued the plunger bottom over the splayed wires to be sure that they never make contact with electrical wires and switch. One required holding in place with a toilet paper tube, the other did not. (This sealer is slow to cure.) (Selley's All Clear, referenced elsewhere in this site. ed.)
Hole cut for switch. 22 gauge wire does not fit 240 volt switches! My solution is to is to use two pieces from the hanging wire to give the switch a grip. Click to Enlarge

Install the switch. Click to Enlarge

*Kalokalo is Fijian for 'star' as in Southern Cross, not as in Mel Gibson, who owns an island here. Bebi (pronounced mbambi is, of course, our mascot who is dazzeLED by our LED lights.
