With the availability of the new Nichia 4th generation of LEDs, we are now comfortable offering for sale our Volasiga replacement steaming (COLREG calls it a masthead light, which has sailboat people scratching their heads, and power boat people wondering why the sailing yacht people are scratching their heads), for vessels up to 20 meters in length. |

If you use an incandescent bulb and it fails open ('burns out'), you have no light at all. In the worst case, if a current regulator failed, you would still have a working masthead light, able to be seen at the same distance, as each row of LED's are electrically independent of each other. |

| Granted, if you mounted our lights on a mast and it remained submerged for more than one hour, you would have a far greater problem than a light failure. However, rain and corrosion can still occur, so the Volasiga steaming light replacement is warranted and tested for waterproof-ness to a depth of 1 meter for one hour (and you have our sincere hope that you never test it without dismounting it from the mast!). | |
